The Rare Books Collection at METU Library is a distinguished selection of materials of high scientific, historical, and cultural value. Due to their unique and fragile nature, these materials are preserved under special conditions and can only be accessed through specific procedures.
Access and Usage Regulations for Rare Materials:
- Rare materials may only be consulted in the Rare Books Room and under the supervision of a library staff member. These items are not available for loan.
- Users may access the collection on weekdays between 09:00 and 17:00. The collection is not accessible on weekends.
- Requests for photocopying are subject to approval by the library staff. If the physical condition of an item does not permit photocopying, photography may be allowed as an alternative.
- Users must obtain explicit permission from the library staff before using a digital camera or mobile phone to take photographs.
- Each rare item must be handled with the utmost care and attention. After the consultation is complete, the item must be returned to the staff member, who will inspect it for any possible damage before accepting it back
