The 2025 quota under the Springer Nature Read and Publish Agreement has been fully used. Since only hybrid journals are covered by the agreement, authors will still be able to publish their articles as closed access without paying any fees.

The 2026 quota will open on January 1, 2026. As the article acceptance date is taken into account, authors who prefer to submit towards the end of the year (assuming the acceptance process takes several months) will have a higher chance of benefiting from the quota.
